Karthik Padmanabhan focuses on the financial, economic, and strategic issues in litigation matters involving intellectual property, finance and securities, labor and employment, breach of contract, and antitrust.

Mr. Padmanabhan brings more than 20 years of experience in economic consulting, management consulting, financial services, venture capital, and engineering across a number of industries, including aerospace, healthcare, education, public sector, technology, finance, retail, manufacturing, distribution, chemicals, and consumer packaged goods. His work has focused on improving corporate strategies and operations to maximize performance and financial return through financial analysis and valuation, estimating damages and financial remedies, and creating advanced decision models. A few examples of his work:

| Copyrighted works posted on social media: Performed an analysis of damages resulting from the use of copyrighted music on the internet. Economic issues assessed included causal connection, statutory damages, actual damages, apportionment, vicarious liability, disgorgement of profits, and a reasonable licensing royalty.

| Patent damages for medical devices: Analyzed damages for alleged infringement of cardiovascular stents. Economic issues considered included the contribution of the patented technology to sales, licensing agreements, convoyed goods, reasonable royalty, and lost profits.

| Breach of Contract: Evaluated damages resulting from the alleged breach of a non-competition agreement and associated trademark infringement and trade secret misappropriation. Issues considered included forecasting future revenues and direct costs, market competition, pre-judgement interest, and weighted-average cost of capital in a foreign country to develop a discounted cash flow model.

| Securities Fraud: Determined the value of certain assets in an investment portfolio over time using financial models to estimate the alleged asset overvaluation and inflated investment advisory fees.

| Workplace Accommodation: Developed a scheduling model and used optimization techniques to demonstrate that an employer could not have reasonably accommodated an employee’s requests for schedule changes.

Prior to working at Intensity, Mr. Padmanabhan was a Principal at Advanced Analytical Consulting Group and a Director with GenXL, a San Francisco venture capital firm focused on identifying, developing, and accelerating intellectual property into investment-ready companies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Padmanabhan was a Manager with the Customer and Market Strategy group, part of the Strategy and Operations practice at Deloitte Consulting LLP. He has worked in financial services at Capital One Financial and operations and manufacturing at Alcoa.

Mr. Padmanabhan is a published author of more than 10 research papers on consumer finance, pensions and retirement, securities, and engineering.

Mr. Padmanabhan earned his M.B.A. in Finance and Decision Sciences from Indiana University. He earned his M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, India.
