Steve Van Liere drives new business development with AmLaw 100/200/elite boutique law firms and corporate legal departments. Mr. Van Liere has worked as a lawyer, executive search consultant, and professional services provider in the legal industry for more than 25 years. He has been the top revenue generator at previous legal services companies. Mr. Van Liere founded and built a legal recruiting company, achieving profitability in its first year of operation. He also built and managed legal services sales operations and led a regional office of an ADR company, where he increased revenue by 44%. He raised the office’s profitability from 36th to 6th highest in the company.

Before joining Secretariat, Mr. Van Liere was Intensity’s vice president of business development. He previously worked at the global legal consulting firm Consilio, and expanded the legal industry’s use of Technology Assisted Review (TAR) at H5 (now Lighthouse) the industry’s leading TAR services provider.

He also was a partner in one of the largest executive search firms in the world, conducting national searches for general counsels, chief compliance officers, law firm partners, and law firm executives. A former San Francisco-based business litigator, Mr. Van Liere also worked as the Northern California/Hawaii regional vice president for the world’s largest alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services provide for many years.

Mr. Van Liere is a proud Wolverine, having earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, School of Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law), where he was an editor of the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review.

He graduated from UC Law SF as a Tony Patino Fellow, a merit-based scholarship awarded to select students at UC Law SF, Columbia Law School, and the University of Chicago Law School for academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Mr. Van Liere now serves as Chairman and President of the Tony Patino Fellowship.
